British duo Blue Lab Beats are rising stars in the realm of soulful hip hop grooves and an agent to the youth and invention of London’s surging jazz scene much like many of their recent collaborators from Nubya Garcia and Sheila Maurice Grey to Louis VI and Kojey Radical. A series of high profile gigs and festival bookings have kept their calendar far from chilled, and all the while NK OK and Mr DM have been adding to their boom-bap treasure chest with a recent EP ‘Freedom’ and single release ‘The Idea’ with Nubya Garcia, Dylan Jones and Sheldon Agwu. We caught up with NK OK and Mr DM at this year’s Womad UK festival to catch up on their 2017 so far.
