DJJ is back introducing another brief moment mix with focus on bringing to the light music that would otherwise be left forgotten to the great and deep crates of time itself.
‘This brief moment mix gives a much needed glance and listen to the little heard side of one of the Ghana’s most revered highlife heroes Alhaji K. Frimpong (b.1939 – d.2005).
Frimpong’s music is nowadays known and loved by many for it’s jazzy and funky mixture of highlife and afrobeat and it has seen commendable reissuing and exposure in the recent past and continues to do so.
This mix brings to the table 7 tracks lifted from the rare 1970’s singles out of Ghana. Many have been totally unavailable online before. They give listeners a chance to hear Frimpong and his bands playing in a more traditional highlife styles. Deep, jazzy, effortlessly rolling and encouraging at the same time these tracks are as enjoyable as they were when recorded.
