The PLAYlist – Chasing Goosebumps

‘Borne out of last summers playlist retreat DJ Jazzy Jeffs cutting edge project had the ambitious aim of recording and releasing an lp of quality in just 7 days. This did with the quality quotient at maximum. This masterful collection of soul, r’n’b, hip-hop and jazz is an incredible distillation of all the creative talents involved – who include Glenn Lewis, James Poyser, Matt Cappy, Tall Black Guy, Kaidi Tatham, Daniel Crawford, Teeko, SiR, Steve McKie, Eric Lau, Maimouna Youssef, Masego, Rich Medina, Jeff Bradshaw, Killiam Shakespeare and amongst many many others.’

Nicholas Payton – Afro-Caribbean Mixtape

‘Multi-instrumentalist, polymath and all round 24 carat musical genius channels all the musical spirituality of his hometown of New Orleans to bring us a life affirming double LP set. From the expansive ‘#BAMboula’ to the provocative ‘Jazz Is a Four Letter Word’ he manages to intertwine the past and the present to give us a vision of the future. A must have.’

Kwami Coleman – Local Music

‘A great take on contemporary jazz and social commentary from this young NYC based pianist. With a Musicology PhD from Stanford we can quite safely say that a lot of thought has gone into this 10 track collection from this gifted and talented young musician. Thanks to artist Rachel D Abrams (@soundpapered) for the heads up on this stunning debut.’

Scott Xylo – Hold On

‘After the critical success of Analogue Eyes, with Digital Minds this young producer from the UK Midlands is experimenting in the world of AfroFuturism. Stripped back, hypnotic funk just about describes the vibe I’m getting from this – quality on all kind of levels thanks to the mad vocals and the bassline – this one definitely has me in its spell.’

Thundercat – Drunk

‘ Stephen Bruner aka Thundercat – an innovator, a risk taker, a maker of quality music. This collection contains so many great names I’m at a loss as where to start – if I only mention the quirky pairing of 80’s legends Kenny Loggins and Michael McDonald that should be enough to gauge the musical compass on this one. The squelchy basslines, falsetto vocals and mad lyrics definitely got me lit. Suffice it to say DO believe the hype on this one. Favourite track ‘A Fans Mail (Tron Song Suite II)’
