This week MARINA is joined by renowned DJ and curator, Rita Maia. Rita Maia is a DJ based in London. She runs Migrant Sounds, a platform, radio show and sound system that explores the movement and impact of dance music across the world, with a focus on the influences of African sounds and Afro-Futurism.
Rita Maia has a regular show on Worldwide FM and Red Bull Radio.
In this show, MARINA asked some wonderful women to send in their favourite music by women, to celebrate International Women’s Day. In the second hour, Rita Maia plays some of the records she found on a recent trip to Mexico, when she played at Bahidora Festival alongside Gilles Peterson, ESA and Thris Tian.
