Moving forwards from 2020’s critically acclaimed Bristolian Jazz compilation New Horizons (Worm Discs), Run Logan Run continue to prove Bristol’s Jazz scene means business. After winning the Montreux Jazz Talent Award in 2019 they were name dropped by Gilles Peterson on BBC Radio 6 Music and in 2020 were invited back to Switzerland as fellows of the Montreux Jazz Academy to perform a special collaborative concert with Snarky Puppy and John McLaughlin.
Their next release on Worm Discs features two stand-alone tracks which, like a sign pointing to opposite directions at the same time, reflect the restless push and pull we’ve all been feeling. Choose Caveman Disco for the primal party or Sleepshop when your life clock is up. Either way ends in the separation of the spirit from the self.

“Caveman Disco was inspired by a video we found on Youtube of Issac Hayes recording Disco Connection in the studio with a large ensemble. He’s conducting the musicians with a really long baton and it cracked us up. We think humour is pretty essential to get through difficult times and we were just having a laugh with this track – it’s groovy but it’s not meant to be too serious.
Sleepshop on the other hand, is about darker subject matter which you’ll understand if you look up that name. It was inspired by our love for the new Ted Poor album You Already Know, which is beautifully recorded and has an amazing combination of space and minimalism. Both tracks were an attempt to write short self contained expressions.”
